What are you going to do?
Lincoln, Cilleine Masquerade, was born in England of Denise Barney’s Cilleine affix, on 16th October 2004. Nobody would have bet on this pretty little dog with a defective ear. He would never be a show dog. As a stud, maybe but showing was out of the question with one ear that would see him disqualified in the ring. As fate would have it, Anne Jahelka, an American breeder was in the right place at the right time. Why not take him over to the States? In that country you can crop the ears, still. In this way, the defective ear would become normal thanks to surgery. It wasn’t easy for Denise to let him go, but... Why waste the opportunity for such a nice puppy? And so it was, just like in the fairy tales. Lincoln is now a top winner in the USA with his handler Paul Catterson. The effort and faith placed in this Griffon have borne fruit. Lincoln is one of the stars of the dog world in the USA at the moment, with many BIS to prove the good eye, determination and hard work, and of course Lincoln’s bravery. The Griffon that supposedly didn’t have what it takes. Pilar Hannan 2007 Photos by kind permission of Anne Jahelka & Denise Barney |
